Jett Foundation’s Camp Promise Makes Inaugural Stop in South Carolina

September 9, 2024

Stop five of seven on this year’s Camp Promise Express tour was in Marietta, South Carolina, for the first ever Camp Promise – South East! The camp saw 32 volunteers arrive on August 1st for orientation, followed by 25 campers who spent August 2nd – 4th with us in Marietta.

With just two full days together, the crew packed their schedule to make every second as magical as possible. Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center’s grounds offer unique and accessible opportunities for campers in our community with neuromuscular disorders. We spent the weekend on an accessible ropes course and zipline, slinging arrows at archery, getting up close to the water for fishing, touring the grounds on a hayride, relaxing in the pool, and much more!

Campers and counselors also bonded over a drum circle multiple times during the weekend. Expressing joy and emotion through music is a popular preference across all our camps!

Camp Promise – South East Director Rachel Crescibene was pleased to have welcomed so many faces and families from the Carolinas: “Our South East crew had an amazing few days together and I am very grateful to have had a successful camp this summer. It will be very exciting to return next summer to both familiar and new faces. Camp Promise is nothing short of magical and I hope everyone who wishes to attend is able to at some point in their life.”

Be sure to check out many photos of our weekend on our Facebook album!
