On May 20, 2023, Jett Foundation hosted its second Family Workshop of the year in Minneapolis, MN for families impacted by Duchenne. The community heard from educational speakers on topics such as Living Well with Duchenne, Endocrinology in Duchenne, Mobility and Independence, and more.
Dr. Jamie Eskuri, who discussed goals and priorities for living well with Duchenne, says, “Families should make sure they are aware of what everyone wants within different circumstances. The more we talk about the hard things, the easier they will become. Families also benefit from communicating with each other because someone else may be a voice for individuals impacted by Duchenne.”
The workshop also included a video presentation from Jett Community Ambassadors who spoke on their experiences with Duchenne, challenges they overcame, and advice for other families. The workshop concluded with presentations and a meet and greet from pharmaceutical companies in the Duchenne space who are able to provide information for families who wish to explore clinical trials, which are critical studies in the fight to cure Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

It was a wonderful time meeting new families and being able to share more about our programs to the community. It is not only exciting to connect with families in new cities each year, but mutually beneficial as the community and our partners hear from professionals in various industries within the Duchenne space.
