August 8-12, 2016
Join us for a week of sailing camp on the Boston Harbor! We’ve partnered with Piers Park Sailing Center to provide a FREE, hands-on, sailing experience for youth and young adults with Duchenne. This adaptive sailing camp has all the accessible equipment, and whether you’re a novice or seasoned sailor, we have what you need to get out on the water! All you need to bring is a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, and a snack.
The Adaptive Sailing Program at Piers Park Sailing Center is a nationally recognized sailing program. They have experience with newbies, all the way to expert sailors, and have adaptive equipment for all ability levels. From supportive, in-boat seating and dock-anchored hoyer lifts, they have lots of options for getting everyone out on the water.
What you’ll learn & gain from this experience:
- How to sail, skipper, and crew a sailboat
- How to make decisions on the water
- New skills like tying knots and using the radio
- All about ocean life, fishing, lobstering, and other water activities.
- A new sense of accomplishment, self-reliance and confidence
- New friends and fun memories!
